GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Anjeka-6161 serves as an effective wetting and dispersing additive designed for solvent-borne automotive coatings, industrial coatings, and pigment concentrates. It excels at stabilizing highly pigmented systems involving carbon blacks and organic pigments, making it especially well-suited for two-component polyurethane and baking systems. It also dramatically lowers the viscosity of millbases.

STORAGE and TRANSPORT

At temperatures below 0°C, the product may separate or become cloudy. To restore uniformity, warm to 20°C and stir thoroughly.
Recommended storage duration: Do not exceed 12 months.

 

SPECIAL NOTES

The surface treatment on certain organic pigments can reduce the performance of this additive. In such situations, consider switching to untreated versions of the same pigment type.
In coil coating applications, be aware of potential interactions between this cationic additive and acid catalysts. Free acids or those encapsulated in epoxy are preferable over amine-encapsulated ones.

 

APPLICATION GUIDELINES

Features and Benefits:
This additive deflocculates and stabilizes pigments through steric hindrance. Anjeka-6161 imparts equal charge to pigment particles, creating electrostatic repulsion combined with steric stabilization. This effectively prevents co-flocculation, floating, and flooding in multi-pigment systems. Consequently, it enhances gloss, color strength, transparency, and opacity while substantially reducing grinding viscosity.

RECOMMENDED LEVELS

Dosage (as supplied, based on pigment weight) – empirical values; optimize through testing:

Titanium dioxide: 5%-6%
Inorganic pigments: 10%-15%
Organic pigments: 30%-80%
Carbon black: 70%-140%

 

INCORPORATION AND PROCESSING INSTRUCTIONS

For optimal results, pre-mix the resin and solvent portions of the millbase. Then, add the additive gradually under continuous stirring until fully incorporated, before introducing the pigments. Ensure the additive is well-dispersed prior to pigment addition.
